Kara Turpen is the Manager of Philanthropy for Sonora Regional Medical Center where she manages a comprehensive major gifts program toward individual, corporate, and foundation donors. Previously, Kara worked as the Development Officer/Program Coordinator for Porter Hospital at Rocky Mountain Adventist Healthcare Foundation. While at RMAHF, Kara was influential in annual employee fundraising campaigns, raising over $350,000 in a single-year campaign, data management, board relations, and major event production, and raising over $600,000 from three events annually.
Prior to moving to Denver, Kara worked at Southern Adventist University in both Marketing Relations and Advancement departments.
Kara is the Committee Coordinator for the Milton Murray Fund for Philanthropy, has served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Colorado Chapter (2016), has served as a volunteer for the Philanthropic Service for Institutions annual conference, and has served as a volunteer for Kids In Need of Dentistry based in Denver, CO.
In her free time, Kara enjoys hiking, skiing, playing sports, and baking.
